Description:
This is a case-based session on current geriatric issues of special interest to practicing dermatologists. These cases are scenarios which occur commonly in the clinical care setting, but have not necessarily been covered in formal residency training program in the past. Key topics covered include: (1) physiologic changes associated with aging and how they impact prescribing practices of commonly used dermatology drugs; and (2) the under-recognized risk factors and cutaneous signs of elder abuse, including examples of effective approaches to manage suspicions of abuse in this vulnerable population. This is an interactive session with ample opportunity for questions and discussion.
