Learning Objectives:
Following this course, the attendee should be able to:
- Summarize the current science behind cosmeceuticals and nutraceuticals
- Demonstrate an understanding of the evidence behind cosmeceutical and nutraceutical development
- Choose cosmeceuticals and nutraceuticals appropriate for application to dermatologic practice
Description:
This session will investigate the use of cosmeceuticals and nutraceuticals in dermatology practice utilizing presently available evidence to better understand this controversial area. Botanicals will be presented along with topical agents relevant to aging science. New findings regarding photodamage and how it can be addressed with cosmeceuticals will be discussed. Finally, the effect of diet on the skin and aging will also be examined, looking into how genetics and epigenetics can be modulated to control the health and life span of the individual.
