Learning Objectives:
Following this course, the attendee should be able to:
- Identify a successful approach to the management of vitiligo
- Select the best treatment option for vitiligo based on choice between well-established therapy and newer modalities
- Evaluate the role of newer surgical modalities in vitiligo
Description:
The development of effective treatment for vitiligo depends on understanding the mechanisms of depigmentation and repigmentation. The basic pathogenesis of vitiligo is not fully known although substantial strides have been made in pathogenesis and the treatment of vitiligo. During past few years, there have been several new advances in the treatment of vitiligo. This forum will focuse on these treatment options, including surgical management of vitiligo. The main goal of this forum is to summarize the current status of vitiligo treatment, delineate a roadmap for effective therapeutic and point out the numerous challenges that lie ahead.
