Following this course, the attendee should be able to:
- Correctly perform diagnostic biopsies on EB patients
- Monitor for and manage cardiomyopathy, renal failure and SCC in EB
- Manage EB in the setting of limited resources
Description:
Diagnosis in EB requires a specialized technique for inducing a fresh blister for biopsy and IF mapping at specialized labs. There will be updates on current management topics including wound care and dressings, and early detection and management of complications including renal failure, cardiomyopathy and squamous cell carcinoma. Management of EB in poorer countries with limited access to treatments will be discussed. A panel of international EB experts will share their experience.
