8:00 AM - 9:00 AM
Ki-Young Yoo, MD, FAAD
Following this course, the attendee should be able to:
- Recognize the unique characteristics of Asian American skin
- Describe the presentation of particular dermatologic conditions as they present in Asian Americans
- Discuss special considerations when treating Asian American skin
As Asian-Americans constitute the fastest growing ethnic group in the US, recognition of skin disorders more specific to this population is becoming increasingly important to help with diagnosis and in tailoring management to meet their particular needs. In this session, the following will be reviewed: structural differences in skin and hair; common concerns during medical dermatology visits; common concerns during cosmetic dermatology visits; dermatoses that occur with greater prevalence among Asian-Americans; and special considerations for treatment and expected response in those with darker skin types.
