Clinical Research

Responsible for the development of evidence-based products including clinical guidelines & research papers, analysis, and recommendations in support of policy, advocacy, education, member service, and communication activities.

Current Activities include:

  • Provide evidence-based clinical guidelines
  • Support quality initiatives such as PQRI/MOC
  • Develop evidence-based position statements
  • Assist in research for media and public or press information
  • Provide expert clinical research for federal initiatives

Survey Research

Responsible for the design, development and implementation of research studies using surveys to gather reliable, valid and representative information that address policy, advocacy and Academy programming concerns.

Medical Informatics

Responsible for advancing DermLexTM (the dermatology lexicon) and pursuing work in the areas of patient registries, clinical decision support systems, electronic data sets/libraries, electronic medical records, and teledermatology.

Current Activities include:

  • Dissemination of a standardized vocabulary for dermatology, DermLexTM, the dermatology lexicon
  • Development of new patient registry projects, and other activities to maintain inactive registry data
  • Research and advise membership regarding medical informatics topics
