Medical Student Core Curriculum
Developed by the American Academy of Dermatology Interdisciplinary and Postgraduate Education Task Force and the Association of Professors of Dermatology
Introduction
Several years ago the Interdisciplinary Education Committee of the American Academy of Dermatology sent a survey to medical schools in the United States asking for information about medical student education in dermatology. The responses indicated a specific need for a student textbook that would contain both the basic science and clinical aspects of dermatology relevant to medical students be accessible to all 64,000 medical students be inexpensive.
The Web-based AAD Dermatologic Core Curriculum for Medical Students was created to fill that need. Dr. Jean Bolognia, Editor of the Dermatologic Core Curriculum for Medical Students, marshaled academic dermatologists from many different medical schools to write chapters. The Interdisciplinary Education Committee members provided invaluable assistance editing the manuscripts.
In 2004, the Interdisciplinary and Postgraduate Education Task Force recommended that the Dermatologic Core Curriculum be revised to continue to provide current and relevant basic science and clinical information to medical students.
Dr. Andrew Bronin, Editor, directed and reviewed the revisions and updates provided by both original and new contributors. New innovative additions to the Dermatologic Core Curriculum for Medical Students include:
