Many organizations provide opportunities for international volunteerism. The American Academy of Dermatology does not review or endorse the activities of these organizations; however, a listing of other opportunities is provided here as a courtesy. The list is not to be considered exhaustive.

Doctors Without Borders (known internationally as Médecins Sans Frontiéres and MSF)

Flying Doctors of America
Bringing together physicians, dentists, dental assistants, dental hygienists, nurses, chiropractors, other health professionals and non-medical support volunteers to care for people who otherwise would never receive professional medical care.
From the Heart Foundation
Provides health education and health care to rural communities in Central America.
Global Health Outreach
A short term mission program of the Christian Medical and Dental Associations that provides volunteer opportunities for medical, dental, other health professionals, students, residents, their families and associates.
Global Volunteers
Supports 100 host communities in 19 countries on six continents through volunteer teams year-around, project funding and child sponsorships.
Global Volunteer Network
The Global Volunteer Network offers volunteer opportunities in community projects throughout the world.
Heart to Heart International
Sends pharmaceuticals and medical supplies to areas in need, enlisting volunteer physicians to offer drug updates and continuing medical education to local doctors. Missions typically last about ten days.
Helping Hands Health Education
Provides low cost and free quality medical services to the people of rural Nepal, Namibia and Vietnam and upgrade their health status. It seeks physicians in all specialties who are willing to serve two weeks or more in Nepal, Namibia and Vietnam.
Hope Worldwide
Offers an annual CME course combined with service opportunities.
International Medical Corps
Sedicated to saving lives and relieving suffering through health care training and relief and development programs.
Konbit Sante
Supports the development of a sustainable health care system to meet the needs of the Cap-Haitien community with maximum local direction and support.
Medical Teams International
Implements and supports programs that address the causes and effects of inadequate health care. Initiatives include training and education to build the skill and capacity to produce sustainable change. Read about Honduras program.
Omni Med
Sends doctors and other health providers to Belize, Kenya, Thailand and Guyana to teach local health providers.
Peace Corps
Older volunteers contribute tremendously to Peace Corps programs all over the globe. No single group has more to offer in terms of experience, maturity, and demonstrated ability.
Physicians for Peace
Dedicated to building peace and international friendships in developing nations with scarce resources through medical education and training and medical/surgical direct patient care, and donated medical supplies.
Project Medishare
Dedicated to improving the health of the Haitian people by re-establishing the health infrastructure in several communities and facilities throughout Haiti.

Offers and organizes volunteer opportunities in community projects throughout Africa.
