Program description

The American Academy of Dermatology invites current members of the Academy to participate as volunteer mentors in the Academic Dermatology Leadership Program (ADLP). 

The ADLP is a year-long program available to early-career (within eight years of completion of residency training) academic dermatologists who have expressed a strong commitment to the field and are recognized as emerging leaders in academic dermatology.

The ADLP focuses on providing management and leadership training for the academic career path and includes the Leadership Forum, other onsite leadership training sessions, and a the opportunity to work with a mentor for the year. 

Mentors are needed for the ADLP. If you devote at least 75 percent of your professional time to academics and have a strong commitment to the field, please consider volunteering to serve as an ADLP mentor. 

Requirements:

• Attend the ADLP session in conjunction with the Annual Meeting.
• Work with your mentee to set a schedule of meetings (at least monthly) throughout the program. In general, meetings will be via phone conversations, but could also include face-to-face meetings and email exchanges.

As an ADLP mentor, in addition to attending the required session at the Annual Meeting, you also will be invited to attend three optional events, including:

• Leadership and Mentoring Reception at Annual and Summer Academy meetings.
• Leadership Forum: Date and location are determined yearly.

If you would like to be an ADLP mentor, please complete your mentor profile by Nov. 15 so the Mentor Profile Roster can be shared with the incoming class.
