The AADA closely monitors Congressional activities and proactively advocates for legislation that advances the specialty of dermatology and supports quality, evidence-based patient care. Learn more about the latest legislative news and information.
Regulators at HHS, CMS, the FDA, the NIH and other federal regulatory agencies determine rules and policies that affect how dermatologists practice. The AADA advocates for its members with these agencies, influencing rulemaking through face-to-face meetings with regulators and considered comments on rules.
Many issues, such as indoor tanning, scope of practice, physician and non-physician licensing requirements, and more are determined at the state level. The Academy supports member and state dermatology society advocacy with state policymakers across all 50 states. This bi-monthly e-mail newsletter keeps U.S. members of the AADA up-to-date with news on advocacy issues affecting the specialty. Learn more and access archives of past issues.
Members of the American Academy of Dermatology influence the programs, goals and agenda of the Academy through the advisory board. Representatives from state, local and specialty dermatology groups can bring resolutions up for passage at advisory board meetings. Resolutions approved by the advisory board are submitted to the American Academy of Dermatology's board of directors for consideration.
