Career Fair FAQ

In preparation for the Academy's Career Development Fair in Miami, Florida the below FAQ addresses general questions to the arrangement of booth space as well as the kinds of materials you might wish to bring. Please consult your confirmation letter for a full listing of rules and regulations when considering your materials.

Why are booths arranged in alphabetical ordered compared to regionally?

Many employers have indicated they prefer the alphabetical arranged in comparison to the regional arrangement, to help distance themselves from their close competitors that would otherwise be next door to them for the duration of the fair. Additionally, by using an alphabetical arrangement, employers have more visibility to job seekers who may only be looking in specific areas of the country and may in turn be able to recruit them to their location.

What is provided?

What types of display materials should/can I bring?

Hanging signs/truss on a ceiling, back wall, either side of the booth, or directly in front of the booth is prohibited. Pull up displays from the floor and the use of projectors and screens or projecting images onto a wall, is also prohibited.

How many brochures/handouts should I bring?

Typically over 300 job seekers attend the Career Development Fair each year. Plan to bring 75-100 of each handout for display on your table.

Can I get a listing of employers and job seekers attending the Career Development Fair?

Employers who submit their practice and opportunity descriptions will be included in the Guide booklet for job seekers for free. Descriptions will only be accepted online and must be sent in by January 15, 2010. The Academy does not give out job seekers/attendee listings.

Why doesn't the Academy give out job seeker/attendee listings?

We've had request for job seekers they prefer to keep their search private. Some job seekers are looking to find a new job and don't' want a current employer to know they are looking.
