The American Academy of Dermatology Presents the Tenth Annual Gold Triangle Awards

Awards Recognize Achievement in Raising Awareness of Dermatology

SAN DIEGO (July 27, 2006) - Each year, consumers search for innovative ways to keep their skin, hair and nails healthy and vibrant. Rising to the challenge of providing information on the latest techniques and treatments in dermatology are public health organizations, industry and the media. In recognition of their important role in educating the public about the specialty of dermatology, the American Academy of Dermatology (Academy) will present the 10th annual Gold Triangle Awards to organizations and individuals during this year´s awards ceremony.

Held at the San Diego Marriott Hotel and Marina in downtown San Diego, the prestigious Gold Triangle Awards salutes winners in the media, industry, health community, and public service, as well as individual effort for excellence in promoting dermatologic awareness and encouraging healthy behavior in the care of skin, hair and nails. Hosting this year´s ceremony are Robert Wagner and Jill St. John.

"Each of our Gold Triangle Award winners is to be commended for their efforts in increasing public awareness of dermatology and greatly impacting the lives of those affected physically, emotionally and financially by these conditions," said dermatologist Stephen P. Stone, M.D., FAAD, president of the American Academy of Dermatology and host of the 2006 Gold Triangle Awards. "By encouraging people to recognize their skin, hair and nail conditions, and to seek the expert care of a dermatologist, these programs and initiatives have the potential to improve the quality of life for numerous individuals."

The Academy extends special thanks to the following organizations for their generous support of the Gold Triangle Awards ceremony activities: Galderma Laboratories, L.P., which sponsored the cocktail reception preceding the awards ceremony; Intendis, Inc., which sponsored celebrity activities; and Astellas Pharma US, Inc., which sponsored the dessert reception.
