Join the MRF at the 2nd annual
Suncoast Miles for Melanoma 5K Run/Walk
Sunday April 15th, 2012.
Course: The race will take place at the beautiful Walsingham Park, located in Largo, Fl. For more detailed information about the park and directions, please go to park website: http://www.pinellascounty.org/park/22_walsingham.htm
The course will be certified and chip timed using the Jaguar Chip Timing System provided by Milestone Race Authority. The Jaguar Timing System uses disposable chips affixed to your bib which are both simple and reliable.
Registration beings at 7:15 am. Race starts at 8:00 am.
Age group awards will be given as well as awards for top fundraisers!
Skin Cancer Screenings: Importantly, we will be offering free skin cancer screenings again this year with the help of Bay Dermatology and a dedicated team of resident physicians. There will be plenty of sunscreen avaliable race day and information regarding the risks of skin cancer, especially here in florida. There will be plenty of raffles including trade size sunscreen and skin care products, sun protective clothing, gift certificates from local eateries and grocery stores.
Fundraising: We plan to honor those who are fighting Melanoma and those who lost their lives to this deadly disease. All proceeds will be donated to the Melanoma Research Foundation, who help support cancer research and work as patient advocates. We encourage each participant to set up a fundraising page and help us in our efforts. If you are unable to attend the event but would like to support the MRF, either register as a fundraiser or support a registered participate by making a donation on their fundraising page.
