Figure 1. Atopic dermatitis. A 13-month-old child presented with an erythematous, scaling dermatitis of the cheeks bilaterally. She had similar appearing lesions over the posterior neck and extensor aspects of the extremities. Note also the mild scaling about the scalp and eyebrows and the infraorbital crease.
This crease has been termed the Dennie-Morgan pleat and, at one time, was considered pathognomonic of atopic dermatitis. However, such infraorbital creases can be seen in any chronic blepharitis. (Photograph from the collection of Donald V. Belsito, M.D. and reprinted with permission.)
