Guidelines of care

The Academy, committed to improving the lives of patients, has continued to develop evidence-based guidelines of care. In 2011, two additional guidelines were developed. The first guideline addresses the management and treatment of patients with primary cutaneous melanoma. The second published guideline of care concerns the treatment of psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, including case-based presentations and evidence-based conclusions.

The Academy is continually working on developing new evidence-based guidelines to support its members. Guidelines for usage of office-based anesthesia, reporting of adverse drug reactions, management of acne vulgaris, and the diagnosis, management, treatment, and follow-up of atopic dermatitis will be in active development during 2012 and are slated for publication in 2013.
