Media relations

Through its SKIN faculty of media-trained dermatologists and a robust media relations plan, the Academy continued to pitch stories to the media and educate journalists about topics related to dermatology as well as assisting them in covering proper skin, hair, and nail care throughout 2011. The participation of dermatologists in interviews with journalists throughout the country helped ensure that the public is aware of our expertise in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology. These efforts have yielded exceptional results for the Academy and its members — the specialty makes three times the impression on the public as it did just a decade ago. Below is a breakdown of the level of dermatology coverage over the last several years. Accompanying it is a chart showing the most-covered dermatology topics in the media throughout 2011.
