Dear Colleague:
The Nominating Committee is looking forward to reviewing applications from nominees who are willing to be considered as potential candidates for the 2012 election.
All available positions require nominees to be in the "Fellow" membership category and members in good standing of the American Academy of Dermatology. An additional prerequisite for the President-Elect and Vice President-Elect nominees is a minimum of one full year of service on the Academy Board. Additionally, the successfully elected President-Elect will be required to divest them self of any direct financial relationships with companiesi during their entire term (utilizing the time from close of election to officially taking office for divestiture). For the position of Nominating Committee member representative, potential nominees should have served within the Academy governance structure and be knowledgeable of members within their geographic area.
To ascertain who has and is currently serving and ensure that nominee(s) meet the necessary requirements to be a nominee, please review the information posted under the Reference Materials Tab, prior to submitting a nomination.
As the current Nominating Committee Chair, I urge you to allow the Committee to consider you, or another qualified colleague you may identify, as a potential nominee for the 2012 election of Officers, Directors or Nominating Committee member representative. A general call for nominations has appeared in Dermatology World and Member Alerts are being sent to all Academy members.
If you are interested in being considered as a nominee, please carefully read all of the information on this "Call for Nominations" link. These materials are intended to fully inform you of the requirements for service as an Officer, Director or Nominating Committee member representative. To allow the Nominating Committee to fairly and fully consider your interest and qualifications, please read and submit all required materials by email or fax (where indicated). The deadline to submit all required materials as determined by the Nomination and Election Procedure Administrative Regulation is Tuesday, November 1, 2011..
Your nomination and the required materials will be held in strict confidence and will be disseminated only to the Nominating Committee and essential Academy staff.
Michael D. Tharp, MD, FAAD
Chair, Nominating Committee
