The Nominating Committee is looking forward to reviewing applications from nominees
who are willing to be considered as potential candidates for the 2013 election.
All available positions require nominees to be in the "Fellow" membership category
and members in good standing of the American Academy of Dermatology. An additional
prerequisite for the President-Elect and Vice President-Elect nominees is a minimum
of one full year of service on the Academy Board. Additionally, the successfully
elected President-Elect will be required to divest themself of any direct financial
relationships with companies
during their entire term (utilizing the time from close of election to officially
taking office for divestiture). For the position of Nominating Committee member
representative, potential nominees should have served within the Academy governance
structure and be knowledgeable of members within their geographic area.
To ascertain who has and is currently serving and ensure that nominee(s) meet
the necessary requirements to be a nominee, please review the information posted
under the Reference Materials Tab, prior to submitting a nomination.
As the current Nominating Committee Chair, I urge you to allow the Committee
to consider you, or another qualified colleague you may identify, as a potential nominee
for the 2013 election of Officers, Directors or Nominating Committee member representative.
A general call for nominations has appeared in Dermatology World and Member
Alerts are being sent to all Academy members.
If you are interested in being considered as a nominee, please carefully read
all of the information on this "Call for Nominations" link. These materials are
intended to fully inform you of the requirements for service as an Officer, Director
or Nominating Committee member representative. To allow the Nominating Committee
to fairly and fully consider your interest and qualifications, please submit all
required materials and letters of support by email or fax. The deadline
to submit all required materials as determined by the Nomination and Election Procedure Administrative Regulation is Thursday, November 1, 2012.
Your nomination and the required materials will be held in strict confidence
and will be disseminated only to the Nominating Committee and essential Academy

Definition: For purposes of Key Leaders disclosures, the definition of direct financial relationship is a compensated relationship held by an individual that should generate an IRS Form W-2, 1099 or equivalent income report. Key Leaders may provide uncompensated service to for-profit companies and accept reasonable travel reimbursement in connection with those services. Key Leaders may accept research support as long as grant money is paid to the institution or practice where the research is conducted, not the individual. Compensation (e.g., royalties) from intellectual property rights does not need to be divested.
